New Remix: “König von Thule”

Shortly after the release of the new album, Hinterlandt is part of an international remix project organised by Goethe-Insitut. The idea is that a recording of the Goethe poem “King of Thule” (courtesy of German artist Emil Klotzsch) travels around the world to be remixed by producers in nine different countries, on four continents. Hinterlandt represents Australia, offering a somewhat dubby reconstruction that draws inspiration mainly from the proximity of the Pacific Ocean.

Home Concert with Simon Holmes

Hinterlandt is playing a home concert at People’s Republic in Sydney on 23 July. Now this is not your ordinary venue. It’s a private house packed with artworks, books, films, records, a pool in the back and one of these see-through comfy chairs hanging from the ceiling. Apart from Hinterlandt, there will be a sound installation by Simon Holmes, who used to front legendary indie pop band The Hummingbirds.

Hinterlandt in Bangkok

Hinterlandt is jumping on a plane to play in Thailand for the first time. On 24/06/2011, Hinterlandt will rock Nospace Art Gallery in Bangkok as part of an event called Make Noise Not War, alongside Seoul-based US experimentalist Awkward Binoculars, and BKK dudes Kijjaz, Jin Matutamtada, Death Trip, as well as Phil_WC & Fog.

Remix of Hydrophone Recordings

US online art and sound label Stasisfield released a Hinterlandt remix of a hydrophone field recording conducted by sound artist John Kannenberg in Egypt. The remix is based solely on the underwater sound files provided by the artist. It can be downloaded alongside a series of other remixes from here.

Down the Coast

Hinterlandt is heading down the coast for two shows, playing in Wollongong and Batemans Bay. The Wollongong gig is an afternoon affair on Saturday 14/05/2011 at Music Farmers record store, sharing the bill with The Mad Pride. Two weeks later, on Saturday 28/05/2011, Hinterlandt will hit North Street Cafe in Bateman’s Bay, alongside songwriter extraordinaire Mark Moldre. The event is part of the River of Arts festival.
